Moreover, former SGPC acting president Alwindrepal Singh Pakoke led around 500-odd supporters in a procession at Tarn Taran to file his papers.

Draped in a ‘siropa’,sitting SGPC member Mehta, contesting from Amritsar Central, made his way to the Zila Parishad office on tractor to file his nomination papers. Passing through the bazaars of the holy city,he paid obeisance at Gurudwara Shaheeda.

Traffic had to be halted at several places to let the VIP motorcade to pass.
